Why Austin, Texas?

Led by Entrepreneurship Program professor, Don Chambers, the inaugural Entrepreneurship Program study of Global Innovations Eco Systems in Austin, TX is a complement to the study abroad to Tel Aviv, Israel. Austin has become one of the top tech hubs in the US and is known to be in the top 20 cities worldwide for Innovation and top 10 worldwide for top talent. In 2020-21 it was highlighted as the "the place to be" for tech founders and VC capital. Also in 2021, Austin had the highest rate of new tech workers in the country and has now been rated as the #1 tech town for 2 straight years.

FIELD plans include:

  • Visiting top incubators and accelerators

  • Visiting entrepreneurship centers including at UT- Austin

  • Visiting with local Venture Capitalists, community and government leaders and UGA alums

  • Visiting local startups from early stage to Unicorn (private firms valued at $1 billion+)

  • Capstone project - "shark tank" style ideation workshop
